I have done so much reading on Search Engine Optimization and it still puzzles me. I do know that keywords are the key.
One thing that every web site owner wants is to get listed on the search engines. Not all website owners know how to do this
so this is going to be the focus on this article today. Many of my readers write that they found me on Google or Yahoo. That makes
me very happy.
To begin with you will want to submit your website URL, using the best keywords, using links and using your blog to get listed.
Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo and Alta Vista all have options for you to submit your your site manually. Now before submitting
it is important to make sure all the pages on your website are complete. Spiders from search engines will not crawl a incomplete site.
Make sure your site is clean of spam and excessive use of keywords. Spider’s will not even touch these sites.
When submitting your site make sure it is only once on each search engine. Searching more often will just be wasting time. Not only that but
the search engines might even mark your site and keep it from being listed.
Using strong keywords will get spiders to crawl your site. They really like keywords and key phrases. Keywords are words that are used
most often throughout your site. Using keywords to fit naturally within your content and not look to be spam.
Before you begin writing your content make a list of keywords and keyword phrases that fit with the topic of your content.
Try to position them throughout your content in a non-distracting way. Now you want to count the number of keywords or
keyword phrases, divide that number by the total number of words in your content. If the number you get is between 1% and 3%
your are in good shape. If it falls below the 1% then I would try to add more keywords or phrases naturally and if the figure
is above 5% then you will want to take out keywords or phrases. The perfect scenario would be between 1% and 3%.
Using links is important also. Having another site link to you will make the spiders that visited the first link, come to your site also. Many owners
who have sites related to yours will be happy to post a link to your site on there links page. They may want you to return the favor and that is called
reciprocal linking, This is a good way for both sites to gain the attention of search engine spiders and both get listed quickly.
Blogs are extremely popular and search engines love them. They say that Google is known to index a blog a lot faster than a regular site. It can take weeks or months for a search engine to to notice a site.
Installing a blog is quite easy. Install a program such as WordPress on your website then begin posting. How often you post is up to you
but I recommend that you post at least once or even twice a week depending on the subject. Doing so will help you get recognized by the search engines.
Start today and you will be amazed how fast your blog gets picked up by search engines.
