Southern California Vacation

We had a fabulous two months in Southern California this past spring.  Our son lives in a community called Temecula. We fell in love with the town and “old town”.  A great place to shop. One of the things that stood out was the lush green landscaping, flowers, street signs were visible and “so clean”.  Wine country at its best.  We visited a few of them and found the Cougar Winery to be exceptional. We visited San Diego and the waterfront district, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, Malibu had a ride to remember up Mulholland Drive. That road is so twisting and curvy and certainly not a relaxing drive. Ha!

We took our son to San Fernando Valley where he was born. The hospital is still there and the home in Panorama City is still in existence.  Can not believe the change in 50 years time. Van Nuys Blvd. didn’t even look familiar. My husband graduated from Birmingham High School in Van Nuys and the school is still there. We use to treat ourselves to a Bobs Big Boy now and then and so we had to stop in Taluca Lake to have a Big Boy. They taste the same.

Visited family in Covina and Whittier also. Traveling the freeways out there are different than here in the Twin Cities.  At times we were standing still! One thing I have to mention is the motorcycles traveling between the car lanes. I couldn’t believe it and it is legal.

It was a good trip and we plan to go again next year.

Life is good!

What’s Your Trust Factor?

What’s Your Trust Factor?

Simon Sinek explains with humor and common sense how having a better understanding of people can help you not only in business but in all aspects of your life.  Simon explains the importance of building trust, identifying it around you and how easily it can be lost.

“What’s a community?

A group of people with a common set of values and beliefs…

What’s a Culture?

A group of people with a common set of values and beliefs…

What’s a Company?

A group of people with a common set of values and beliefs……or at least it should be!

Marketing, logos and slogans won’t make any difference if people don’t trust you or feel that they have anything in common with you.  I am sharing this clip as a training resource for you and those you lead.  It is worthy of everyone’s time.   Once you watch it, then use these skills to provide value to your clients, your colleagues and the world at large.

Have a great day and inspire others to do the same.

A New Year and A New Outlook

Where does one begin? I have been on a long hiatus and am now back on my blog to continue to bring you updated

information on Health, Writing and Networking. Why was I gone so long? That is a good question and one I will try to answer honestly.  To be upfront with my readers I must say “I just got burnt out”.  I have continued to keep up with my fellow networkers, reading there emails, listening to podcasts and webinars. One can never in a thousand years be able to retain all the information that is out there but I try to capture the best information as I see it. Kim Klaver, Ann Sieg, Mike Dillard, Todd Falcone, Eric Worre and Ray Higdon  are a few that I follow.

Living in the tundra, our winter right now is not very nice. lol This morning it was -14 degrees below zero. I did capture a beautiful picture of the sunrise. This picture was taken at 6:30 am.  Yes, there is snow on the ground!

We enjoyed a wonderful holiday here with family. Our son and his family were here from California for ten days. It went way to fast. They left for home on January 2nd. The decorations and lights came down soon after.  A letdown for sure.

Trying to get motivated so took in two Webinars lastnight. At 7 pm. with Jessica Higdon on Why Social Media.  If you are in business than SM is certainly worth looking into for building relationships and prospecting as well.  Finding local people to prospect is one thing she advised.  At 8 pm I hopped on over to Ray Higdons webinar on The Seven Strategies to building a succcessful business. He talked about expectations, prospecting, time management, daily routine, landmines, team building and your inner culture.  These two are married and share some amazing knowledge on Network Marketing.

I hope you all had a great 2014 and that 2015 will be even greater.

Using Other Peoples Information to Monotize

Using Other Peoples Info To Increase Your Adsense Cash

Adsense is really making a huge impact on the affiliate marketing industry nowadays. Because of this, weak affiliate merchants have the tendency to die faster than ever and ad networks will be going to lose their customers quickly.
If you are in a losing rather than winning in the affiliate program you are currently into, maybe it is about time to consider going into the Adsense marketing and start earning some real cash.

Google is readily providing well written and highly relevant ads that are closely chosen to match the content on your pages. You do not have to look for them yourselves as the search engine will be the doing the searching for you from other people’s source.

You do not have to spend time in choosing different kind of ads for different pages. And no codes to mess around for different affiliate programs.

You will be able to concentrate on providing good and quality content, as the search engines will be the ones finding the best ads in which to put your pages on.

You are still allowed to add Adsense ads even if you already have affiliate links on your site. It is prohibited, however, to imitate the look and feel of the Google ads for your affiliate links.

You can filter up to 200 URLs. That gives you a chance to block ads for the sites that do not meet your guidelines. You can also block competitors. Though it is unavoidable that Adsense may be competing for some space on web sites that all other revenues are sharing.

Owners of small sites are allowed to plug a bit of a code into their sites and instantly have relevant text ads that appeal to your visitors appear instantly into your pages. If you own many sites, you only need to apply once. It makes up for having to apply to many affiliate programs.

The only way to know how much you are already earning is to try and see. If you want out, all you have to do is remove the code from your site.

The payment rates can vary extremely. The payment you will be receiving per click depends on how much advertisers are paying per click to advertise with the use of the AdWords. Advertisers can pay as little as 5 cents and as high as $10-12, sometimes even more than that too. You are earning a share of that money generated.

If your results remain stagnant, it can help if you try and build simple and uncluttered pages so that the ads can catch the visitor’s eyes more. It sometimes pay to differ from the usual things that people are doing already. It is also a refreshing sight for your visitor once they see something different for a change.

Publishers also have the option of choosing to have their ads displayed only on a certain site or sites. It is also allowed to have them displayed on a large network of sites. The choice would be depending on what you think will work best for your advantage.

To get an idea if some Adsense ads you see on the search engines has your pages, try to find web pages that have similar material to the content you are planning to create and look up their Adsense ads.

It is important to note that you cannot choose certain topics only. If you do this, search engines will not place Adsense ads on your site and you will be missing out a great opportunity in making hundreds and even thousands of dollars cash.

It is still wise to look at other people’s information and format your Adsense there. Just think about it as doing yourself a favor by not having to work too hard to know what content to have.

Topic to be avoided includes gambling, firearms, ammunition, tobacco or drugs. If you are being offered more cash in exchange of doing Adsense with these kinds, it is just like signing your own termination paper.

With all the information that people need in your hands already, all you have to do is turn them as your profits. It all boils down to a gain and gain situation both for the content site owners and the webmasters or publishers.

Make other people’s matter your own and starting earning some extra cash.

Make Money Blogging

Making money using Adsense, Pay Per C lick or Affiliate Link programs is easy and effective. Start monetizing your blog today!

Yes! You can make money blogging. One teenager has earned $5000.00 a month from blogging! Not every blogger is this lucky but it has happened. It does take some skill and luck to make money from blogging. You need to know HOW.  There are three specific methods to make money on your blog: Adsense, Pay Per Lead and Affiliate Links.

So you say, “How exactly do I make money on my blog? You do so  by working with another company that wants to use your blog as a form of advertising.

The advertising can be as in your face or subtle as you want. And it can still make you money, provided you have enough visitors to your blog.

What is Adsense?

Adsense is a program offered by Google. This program, if installed on your blog, will display ads provided by Google. To acquire Google ads you will have to go to,  At the bottom of the screen is a link for “Advertising Programs”. Click on that and then click on the link  for “Adsense”. Scroll down on the page to the “Click here to apply” Fill out the required information.  Google will notify you in 12-48 hours via email whether or not your site has been excepted. When you have been excepted, set up your ads by doing  either of the following.

1.If your blog is hosted on, you can set up your AdSense ads by going to your profile, selecting settings>template>add an element. Then select AdSense and login with your account info. Next, you’ll configure your ads and save the template. That’s it.

2.If you are self-hosting your blog, you’ll have to set up AdSense in more of a manual way. You’ll create your ads(which can be as small or as tall as you want) and then copy the HTML/Javascript code Google gives you. Then you’ll paste it into your blog(on the left, right, or top of the screen).

For the first few days, the ads displayed by Google will be Public Service Announcements. After the ads have been up a few days, though, the ads will switch to ads that are relevant to your blog.

How does Adsense work? Every time a visitor clicks an Adsense ad, you get a little bit of money(usually around 30-60 cents). The amount you get for each ad clicked depends on the number of unique visitors you receive on your blog. The more visitors, the more money that can be earned. Google will then send a check or pay you through Paypal once you’ve made at least $100 from the ads. It is important to remember that Google will penalize you if you click your own ads, or if you ask visitors specifically to click ads. So don’t do that!

 Pay Per Click

Pay Per Click is basically just like AdSense, except you don’t  just work with Google—you work with multiple companies. BidVertiser is one such company you can sign up with to do Pay Per Click advertising.

How do I get Pay Per Click?

You sign up with a site like Bidvertiser and then follow their instructions to set up the Pay Per Click ads on your site.

How does Pay Per Click work?

It works by paying you money each time someone clicks an ad that you display. You won’t get paid for multiple clicks from the same user in the same visitor, nor will you get paid for someone simply visiting your site. You only get paid for legitimate clicks.

 Affiliate Links

Affiliate links are basically links which people pay you for. Companies will actually pay owners of popular blogs to post links on their blog. You can do as much Affiliate linking as you want.

How do I get Affiliate Links?

You can get Affiliate links by searching for “Affiliate Link Programs” on the internet. Once you find an Affiliate link program that looks good to you, sign up for it. Then you can follow their instructions for putting the link(s) on your blog.

 How do Affiliate Links work?

Like the other two methods mentioned above, Affiliate links work by paying you money each time they are clicked. You get paid for each click per unique visitor.

There you go! Those are the three legitimate ways to make money from blogging. It is important to keep in mind that the amount of money you are able to make depends on how many visitors your blog draws. If you draw a lot, you’ll make a lot. If not, the money you earn will be modest. But it’s still extra money, so why not do it?

Self Hosting your Blog?

Now that you have decided to blog the decision to host your own blog or get a free service such as  It can be a dilemma but we will go over the pro’s and con’s so you can decide. It can be a difficult decision for many of you. There is no perfect solution. I guess that is why the pro’s and con’s.

Fortunately, you should be able to make the best decision for you if you are armed with adequate knowledge of both. We will go over services like and others including software that allows you to host your own blog. After going through this information you will know which is best for you.

First question you may have is “who offers free blog hosting?”  Many sites offer free blog hosting. Among them are Forumer, , BlogEasy, Aeonity, BlogThing and Blogates. A quicksearch for “free blog” on Google reveals many possibilities.

Next would be, “what software can I use to host my own blog?” Like free blog hosting, there are many possibilities for software that makes hosting your own blog easy. Most of them are free to use. These include:

WordPress(the most popular software), Apache Roller, Blosxom, Geeklog, Textpattern, LifeType

There is blog software you can purchase for use on your sites and they are:

Community Server, Movable Type and Radio Userland

There is one negative  about using software and hosting your own blog. That is the process can often times get complicated. You have to download the software and install to your server and sometimes that doesn’t always go so easily. If you are experienced in installing software than it can be pretty simple. If not than it can be pretty frustrating.

Should I remotely host my blog through Blogger? Places like Blogger allow you to host your blog there. It’s a good option for many people.

Now for the pros:

It’s easy to set up and maintain a blog. You don’t have to go  through the trouble of installing software and configuring it to work on your server. All you have to do is sign up for an account and start posting. It’s friendly for beginning bloggers. Sites that host blogs offer good tutorials on how to make your blog postings, so that even someone who is completely new to the concept of blogging can do it easily. Most blog hosting sites are completely free to use. There is no need to pay for things like a domain name and hosting. Monetizing your blog is easy. Rather than having to manually put HTML/Java codes on your blog to manually set up things like AdSense and Pay Per Click advertising, you can select an option on most blog hosting sites that does much of the work for you.

Here we go for the Cons:

You don’t have as many options to customize your blog. Remotely hosted blogs are admittedly somewhat limited in terms of what you can actually do on them. You have to stick with what is provided to you in terms of look and features. The URL you get is always You don’t get to have a custom domain name like This can possibly hurt traffic to your blog. Blogs hosted on free blog sites don’t look as professional as self hosted blogs.

The  Pros are again the more options and flexibility. You can do all the tweaking you want to make your blog to your liking. Your URL is your address for your blog. Rather than having go to where your blog is hosted to read it, they can read it right from your site. The ability to make your blog look professional. Blogs that are hosted on sites of their own tend to look a lot better than those hosted on free sites. More space for your blog. Free blog sites usually place a restriction on how much space you have for things like photos and music. By hosting your own blog, you are able to use as much space as you need.

Some cons to think about:

There are sometimes problems with setting up blog software to run on your site and server. If you aren’t experienced when it comes to working with mySQL, the process will be hard. Updates aren’t as easy to post. You have to manually set up programs to monetize your blog. If you are good with HTML/Javascript, this should not be to hard. You have to pay for your own hosting and domain.

As you can see, there are pros and cons to both. Which should you choose? Well, it depends on who you are and what you intend to use your blog for. If you intend to use it for business, then a self-hosted blog is the best idea. If it’s a personal blog, then a free hosted blog will probably be fine for you. Closely examine all of the pros and cons mentioned above. That way, you’ll be able to make the best decision for you!

Good Luck in your decision making! 🙂

Plan B before Bankruptcy

For the first time in history, the current generation is averaging a lower standard of living than their parents.Taxes have become an increasing burden, and a significantly smaller percentage of Americans under 45 now own their own homes. – New York Times

Just here in our small town in the midwest my family was also felt by bankruptcy. What happens to often young people are given loans to purchase homes with a high interest rate. Soon they can’t make those high monthly mortgage payments and consequently they have to give in to the reality of the bankruptcy route.

How many of you have a plan B? It is a good idea to look into your options.

The following website may just be your answer. If not you may no somebody that it could benefit.

Making the Plunge to Empower Network

This Grandma has made the “plunge”! Thank you to Kim Klaver for introducing me to Empower Network. I signed on a couple days ago and have been going through the video training for each of the products that Empower Network has to offer. I have been networking since 2007 and have not seen a more powerful system and I am excited to get started. Because of my profound hearing loss I am greatful to Kim for chatting, emailing and just being so patient with this “Grandma”. Dave and Dave are great teachers. They both have interesting backround and have done well for themselves.

Wanted to share this excitement with you as we have been talking about blogging and how to get started. By now I am hoping that you all have started a blog. Whether its personal or business it is truly fun. Do me a favor and take a look at Empower Network and let me know what you think.
